Kurzfassung englisch:
In EELS, the electron beam is used to probe transitions between
different electronic states of the sample. In the particular case of
core-loss EELS, this can typically be described in an effective oneparticle
model. Thus, the ultimate goal of core-loss EELS is to
deduce information about single orbitals in the solid. While some
complications arise from, e.g., incoherent scattering, it has been
shown recently on theoretical grounds that directly imaging atomic transitions is possible [1 ] .
